Although the First Congregational church began as a German Church the services were eventually conducted primarily in English. The one German language tradition that persisted until the present time was the singing of Silent Night in the original German, Stille Nacht, as shown here. It was often sung at the Christmas Eve service led by Rev. Leiseder. His wonderful speaking voice and life long interest in music did not help his singing. It was always a moving experience in spite of that.
